Comprehensive School

If you are not a Venice resident and you are interested in attending Venice HS through a permit, you can review the permit process on this website: https://permits.lausd.net/. Permits are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Currently, we have a wait list. Contact our attendance office for more information.
 
 

The School for Advanced Studies

Venice High School's School for Advanced Studies is designed to meet the needs of gifted, talented, and high-performing local and non-resident students. This program is part of our comprehensive school. Students from all over the district may apply, but no applications are necessary for our local students. 
 
Residents - please let us know of your interest in enrolling at Venice and being a part of the School for Advanced Studies by filling out the following form: https://bit.ly/ENROLLVHS2024.
Non-Residents - Families living within the LAUSD boundary may apply to our School for Advanced Studies program on https://echoices.lausd.net. The on-time application for the 2024-2025 school year opens on October 2 and closes on November 17, 2023.
 
 

The Dual Language Immersion Program

At Venice High School, we have a Mandarin and a Spanish Dual Language program. Students in this program are fluent in the language. Priority is given to students currently in an LAUSD Dual Language program. Students not currently in a Dual Language program will need to be assessed to ensure fluency and future success in the program. See venicehs.org/DLA for more details.

Magnet Programs

All families interested in our magnet programs must apply through https://echoices.lausd.net. The on-time application window for the 2024-2025 school year opens on October 2 and closes on November 17, 2023. The late application period will begin on February 1st. Magnet programs are only available to families living within LAUSD Boundaries. Living in the Venice High neighborhood does not guarantee a spot in one of the two magnet programs.
 
Venice High School has two magnet programs. Each program requires a separate application on https://echoices.lausd.net.
 
 

The STEMM Magnet

Students in this magnet will study either Engineering or Biomedicine for four years, with an emphasis on science carried out in the other A-G courses. See venicehs.org/STEMM for more details. 
 
 

The World Languages and Global Studies Magnet

Students in this magnet will study four years of one language, with an emphasis on geography, diplomacy and politics carried out in the other A-G courses.  Students may select from Arabic, French, Italian, Japanese or Spanish as their language of study.  See venicehs.org/WLGS for more details.

Please bring all forms to our Attendance Office.  We are open from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm for enrollment.

All forms must be completed in order to enroll student. Missing information will delay enrollment.
 
Verification documentation is also required with the enrollment packet. 
  • Proof of Residence
        Acceptable documents: utility service contract, property tax payment receipt, rental lease agreement, official government mail, current pay stub
  • Proof of Student's Age
        Acceptable documents: birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport, health office/vital statistics record of birth certificate, dated Department of Social Services (DPSS) letter verifying birthdate and an explanation of how this was verified
  • Identify Verification of Parent/Guardian/Educational Rights Holder/Caregiver
        Acceptable documents: birth certificate, baptismal certificate, government issues identifications such as a driver's license or DMV issues identification card
  • Students enrolling from a NON-LAUSD school - please also provide Proof of Immunization.
 
If available/applicable, please also provide the following:
  • Transcript / recent grade reports
  • Copy of most recent IEP or Section 504 Plan
  • Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) 1399 Form or minutes order
  • Court order
