Why take classes at community college?
Students can take enrichment courses and/or credit recovery courses at community college while still enrolled in high school. These courses allow for students to explore their interests while earning both high school and college credits free of charge. This will allow students to be more college and career ready by already getting exposure and access to college courses.

Can students take classes at any community college for high school credits?
No. Students can only take classes within the Los Angeles Community College network to be considered for high school credits. Make sure to work with your school counselor to collaborate on your educational goals and their compatibility with earning high school credits. Please note that students are always welcome to take courses at any institution for enrichment regardless of whether high school credits will be earned.

Can students take courses at Santa Monica College to satisfy high school graduation requirements?
Unfortunately, no. Santa Monica College is outside of the Los Angeles Community College network. LAUSD does not have an articulation agreement with SMC and therefore we cannot input any courses from SMC onto an LAUSD Transcript.

What course can students take to satisfy the LAUSD Health graduation requirement?
Look for the course Health 011 at any Los Angeles Community College beginning in the ninth grade year. A grade of C or better is considered passing and will satisfy the high school graduation requirement.

How do I choose what class I want to take?
Work with your counselor to discuss your academic and personal goals. They will help you on picking courses that are equivalent to high school requirements and/or meet your educational needs.
