the city of Pico Rivera is located in Southeastern Los Angeles County on the Eastern edge of the Los Angeles Basin and on the southern edge of the San Gabriel Valley the population in Pico Rivera 63000 with 91% being of Hispanic descent the median household income can be estimated at around $57,600 Pico Rivera is home to 13 School with one of them being El Rancho High School El Rancho High School provides the volunteer students that allows the court to run the way it does our Tinker sessions on the first Wednesday of the month their hair Pico Rivera City Chambers with an average of 125 students attending this number has lowered because we have been forced to limit the amount of people in the city Chambers think or passes are used to allow entrance to student then which is the volunteer as a juror sign their name in order to be called significant cases for the past two years include battery where the victims were the defendant's own brother and mother drug possession including meth and opium use Grand Theft where $1,000 worth of Apple products were stolen and sold and a petty theft case where the defendants background included failed suicide attempt because of bullying due to his sexual orientation the cases we have been fortunate to receive our more advanced than cases pertaining to school truancy and other citation issues are success this year can be contributed to the volunteer teachers being more diverse this year has displayed more underclassmen volunteers than any other year Okay so burglary and affect that way we can go over it beforehand go for a roofing planning to steal our club meetings are in a relaxed fireman where everyone can enjoy a small snack as we discussed individual rights of students a review of the past teen court session and possible improvements to the Teen Court process after three years of rat Remains the only School Teen Court Club this year the 14 seniors 11 Juniors three sophomores and one freshman makes 2014 the most diverse team core club yet because of the double the amount of Teen Court club members we have a two more officer positions the newly added Tech Commissioners take control of our Twitter account and website responsibilities include weekly tweets on Twitter and blog post online 2000 14 is the first year a Blog has been Incorporated to the El Rancho Teen Court blog posts are added after every team court session the topics chosen are linked to the cases that were heard that month there are currently 102 total blog comments numerous Pink Floyd from California are aware of the El Rancho tinker and where we reside in examples of this recognition has been on display during State conferences like to be on the bench conference and the summit conference the next closest team court is Roosevelt High School Pico Rivera is the only city to maintain a team Court in the clothes surrounding areas because Roosevelt High School is a good distance away the old Rancho team cord covers cases from Pico Rivera Whittier Downey and many more cities students from Downey Bell Gardens and Whittier have come to Pico Rivera to observe El Rancho Teen Court hey my time it's in court I learned about the Teen Court process and I was able to learn about my rights and overall it was a great experience I think that's a really great experience especially when you see that elephant come in and realize what he or she is done and then go to the process of Teen Court and realize that they have a second chance of getting doing something better and realize their actions and want to improve on it 14 cord for 3 years now and being a senior it's really time to pass the torch on to the underclassmen I'm confident them and I'm really excited to see what advancement they make next year and Beyond
