hello my name is Brian Blosser and I'm a teacher here at Venice High School actually I'm not there right now I'm a couple miles down the road but I'm also a Lead Teacher the Academy of Law & Public Service and Venice High School class of 1986 I'm going to talk about the Venice High school academies in programs that we offer and the comprehensive school we have for academies in the comprehensive school which is the non-magnet on end of the school we have the Academy of Law & Public Service the Media Arts and Technology Academy the sports medicine Academy in the Dual Language Academy academies we have the school for advanced studies which is the honors and gifted classes including AP courses available to all students we have a large special education department to provide services to students with exceptional needs and we have in English language Department which offers services in courses to our students for English learners First Academy is Academy of Law & Public Service Academy I'm associated with we have College and Career course pathway in the legal career we offer classes in legal services in criminal justice at the moment we have to I taught by Mr minhas and mystery Habibi in those areas in the public service component is not necessarily career course but more based on activity is at the soonest would be engaged in throughout the year including guest speakers field trips and other activities throughout the year that are on the topic so things like public health hazards advocacy and action and Community involvement in on the contact person if you have more questions about the outs cademy next we have the sports medicine Academy the College and Career Pathways include an emphasis on medical terminology health careers Sports Medicine & Athletic training Sports Med Academy has a sports medicine go to all the sporting events and they helped the athletes with first aid and medical needs on-site the Lead Teacher of the sports med Academy is Kristen Ferro who is the 2018 California teacher next is the Media Arts and Technology Academy whose focus is media literacy their College and Career course Pathways day of two the first one is computer science which is an exploration of computer science and combination at 8 p.m. computer science course the other component is Media Arts with courses in digital imaging design Fine Art journalism theater music graphic communication Community College media and compare classes are offered at the Venice High School site was your community college classes taught after school at Venice High School in media arts and we have several other throughout the year. Adventist High School delete teacher media arts academy is Ruth green she's a national board-certified teacher she's also The English Department chairperson and you can contact Miss Green Lashley are dual Language Academy is an academy that starts off in the elementary schools on Broadway Elementary in Grandview Boulevard Elementary or feeder schools that feed into Mark Twain Middle School in the net program can use at Venice High School we're on our second year and is the name implies we have two languages World Language Mandarin immersion program we offer a mansion for and AP Mandarin classes classes in Humanities joggers which is in Mandarin do also have the two-way Spanish Immersion immersion program which offers AP Spanish and honors Spanish for Spanish speakers three in a journalism class in which of course the emphasis is a students communicate in Spanish the coordinator for the program is Miss Lakeisha Clark so if you have additional questions about that program you can contact her in a lot of activities and programs for your students to participate in we have band and theater in numerous athletic teams and clubs and competitions and contests that our students are in Houston so we hope that you will send your child to high school cuz there's a lot of activities activities outside of the regular forces that they can participate in lastly if you have additional questions about any of the programs the Alps Academy you can contact me my contact information is here on the screen Sports Medicine Academy contact Christian Farrell Media Arts and Technology Academy and the school for advanced studies in the Dual Language Academy contact Miss Lakeisha Clark thank you and we hope to see you soon at Venice High School
