Want to tryout for a sport? See steps below.
1. Complete online paperwork at athleticclearance.com. Please check all sports you intend to tryout for. Athletic clearance must be completed to be able to print the confirmation page and set to pending. Coaches have the option to set to cleared once all steps are completed in the clearance process. Make sure to include your 10 digit student ID. You can go back and edit, if you aren't officially enrolled in LAUSD. This step is the only way you'll populate to a roster.
2. Complete a health history and physical. Submit these as a single 2-page PDF to the coach of the sport you intend to tryout for first via email. Physicals are cleared in order received and uploaded by coach.
3. Bring original physical and athletic clearance confirmation to tryouts. Confirm the tryout date(s).
4. Confirm with the coach you are fully cleared prior to being allowed to tryout. Each coach has access to clearance rosters.
5. If you are a new student to Venice HS, additional steps may be required. Examples are a GPA waiver and/or transfer paperwork. Please discuss with your coach ASAP.

NOTICE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS
OUT OF SEASON ATHLETIC TEAMS
Venice High School does not sponsor any out of season athletic teams, nor do such teams have sanction for these activities from the California Interscholastic Federation, Los Angeles City Section, or the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Participation on out of season athletic teams is a voluntary and private activity on the part of students and is not a requirement for participation on the school's athletic teams during the season of sport. The school is not responsible for the supervision, transportation, or conduct of these out of season athletic competition activities. The school is not responsible for injuries that might occur while participating on out of season athletic teams.
An out of season athletic team may be coached by a regular school employee, however, such coach is not employed by the school in the capacity of an out of season athletic team coach, and the coach is serving either as a private individual or employee of an agency other than the school district or Venice High School.
The 3 requirements for student-athletes are:
- Maintain a minimum of 2.0 GPA
