We all care about our students’ well-being and success. As such, I wanted to share with you the multiple grade improvement opportunities students have in my chemistry and APES classes this year that I hope they take advantage of. These are designed to ensure that all students are supported in their academic progress and consistently reflect on their own learning, thereby helping them understand the material more deeply and boost their overall performance. 

 

1. Corrections
Corrections are an option to earn 1 point back on assignments or assessments

Example: if the original grade was a C, then with complete corrections, the grade can be changed to a B. 

 

2. Assessment Retakes
If your student did not perform as well as they hoped on a progress check, they can retake the assessment to improve their score. The retake must be scheduled.

 

Students do not have to do retakes; this is simply an option recommended for students trying to maximize the grade earned. Corrections are a valid alternative unless the original score is below a 1, in which case a retake is strongly encouraged.
